What is OS Productions?
OS Productions is a team of experienced professionals who are a prime source of production services for the entertainment industry in Japan and overseas. Those of you familiar with Japanese culture will know that in Japan names have particular meanings. Our company name has three meanings, giving you a complete picture of our character!

- First, OS stands for ‘Off Stage’. We give a full range of language and production-based services specifically for of an increasingly international entertainment industry. We are primarily focused on offstage and behind-the-scenes assistance, but we also have an extensive network of professional actors, entertainers and up-and-coming talents.
- Second, ‘os’ (pronounced between ‘ohs’ and ‘oos’) can be written like this 押忍. The first character means ‘push’ and the second means ‘have the guts to do (something)’ or ‘patience’. It was traditionally a greeting for ninja and samurai and nowadays between actors, workers and members of martial arts dojo. To us it demonstrates our working drive and direct approach tempered with the patience needed for international projects.
- Third, in another time-honored connection to both Japanese and global culture, it’s a cheesy pun! 押忍 (read ‘Shinobu’) is our founder, head coach and CEO’s name! For more about him, please click here.
